Julie Pennington

Julie Pennington is a Canberra based ceramic artist whose work explores the subtilities and complexities of pattern and texture. Her methodically crafted vessels and sculptural works are characterised by her distinctive approach to the enduring technique of coil building. Julie’s career in the visual arts began in the field of textile design, before pursuing her interest in ceramics and completing a Diploma of Ceramics at Moss Vale TAFE in 2010. Since graduating Julie has undertaken artist residencies in Australia and Spain, and has been a finalist in a number of major ceramic competitions. She was an award winner at Stanthorpe Art Award 2016 and North Queensland Biennial Award in 2018. Julie has exhibited widely, most recently at Skepsi Gallery Melbourne and Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize at the South Australian Museum.
