Inspired by natural environment the highly innovative sculptural artworks explore unconventional material creation resulting in woven 3D works. The unconventional materiality in this series of works are hand-woven from diverse fibres of basalt, quartz, stainless steel, copper, carbon fibre, glass, silver/polyester, paper and silk.
Materials: Hand woven glass, carbon/poly and copper thread; canvas and wooden frame
Dimensions: 50cm(h) X 50cm X 6cm(d)
Care instructions: feather duster only. A clear cover is included in the back of the frame and can be used for further protection.
Meet the Maker: Acclaimed internationally for innovative and complex woven textiles, Jennifer Robertson uses a unique purpose built digital handloom and her works span a broad range of textile practice-led research outcomes including sculptural relief and 3D artworks, interior and fashion.
Thematic research focuses on exploring relationship between environment, human form, interior space and materiality through the use of weaving metaphors and analogies. Investigating the poetic and evocative nature of materials interplay using soft engineering, threads are constructed into often multiple layered structures imbued with sensorial, haptic properties.
