About the Maker: Valerie Kirk

Valerie Kirk has a background in art, design and woven tapestry, having studied at Edinburgh College of Art. This education laid the foundation for her first job as a weaver at the Victorian Tapestry Workshop in Melbourne. Then following further study at Goldsmiths, University of London, she worked for exhibitions, did commissions, travelled and taught in GB and Australia before taking up the position, Head of Textiles at The Australian National University.

Now she works from her studio in O'Connor - weaving, teaching, art and design projects and planning textile tours.
