About the Maker: Julie Bradley
What originally started out as an exploration by Julie Bradley, into the effects of music on image making, became a deeper reflection on how music like visual art, is also a language.
These images are explorations of seeing music as a visual expression and are a depiction of the resonance between colours and shapes, sounds and images and between artists.
Music has always been a big part of Bradley’s life and after recently joining the redoubtable Rachel Hore’s (OAM) Pop up Choir, she has had cause to consider how music alters her perception as an artist.
While some works are a direct response to particular pieces of music others investigate the shared terminology between visual art and music.
Collage and particularly composition being process lead techniques, are not unlike the musical form of call and response. They require the artists to respond to shapes and lines as the image and composition builds and forms.
