A graduate of ANU School of Art Canberra (2013), Fran is inspired by memory, history and nostalgia, and the passage of Time. She investigates these themes through layering, experimentation with found materials and texture.
In recent years, Fran has begun to explore death rites and rituals from both an archeological/historical perspective and a human one. Aiming to create a quiet, contemplative space for the viewer.
An interest in the creative process has also found it’s way into her teaching practise and a series of ephemeral ReflectiveClay workshops she offers in the community. Uniquely combining her Social Work/Community Work background with her Art practise.
In 2018 she was awarded an Emerging Contemporaries prize from Craft ACT: craft + design Centre.
She has been a finalist in the Little Things Art Prize (2018), the Goulburn Art Award (2022), and the North Queensland Ceramic Art Award (2024).
She has undertaken special commissions for both giftshops at the National Gallery of Australia and the National Museum of Australia, to coincide with major exhibitions at those institutions.
