Craft + Design Canberra is committed to making our venue and programs accessible to everyone. We welcome people of all abilities, as well as their families, carers and supporters. We welcome visitors of all ages, backgrounds and identities.
Craft + Design Canberra is an LGBTQIA+ friendly venue.

Below is some information to help you plan your visit.
Getting here
Access to Craft + Design Canberra is via Civic Square which has paved surfaces. Some paving stones may be raised or uneven and are slippery when wet. Please take care when crossing the square.

The nearest accessible drop-off and pick-up point is located in front of Canberra Museum and Gallery on London Circuit. There is a shallow step from the road up onto the footpath.
Public Transport
Our venue can be reached by bus or light rail.
The City bus interchange is located 200m from Craft + Design Canberra. The closest bus stops are located on the corner of London Circuit and East Row. Many routes also stop along London Circuit.
The Alinga Street Light Rail Stop on Northbourne Avenue is located 500m from Craft + Design Canberra.
Cyclists
The nearest bike racks are located in Civic Square outside Civic Library.
Wheelchair and mobility aid access
Lift access is available from the main entrance which provides step-free access to Level 1.
Our Gallery, Workshop and Shop spaces are across a single level. Our Gallery and Workshop space are wheelchair and mobility aid accessible. The pathways in our Shop are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair or mobility aid. Please note that our Shop space is currently restricted and does not permit a full 1500mm x 1500mm turning circle.
The foyer and hallways of our venue are carpeted. The floor in the Gallery and Shop is polished concrete and the floor in the Workshop space is linoleum.
Bathrooms
There is one accessible bathroom located within our venue.
All bathrooms including the accessible bathroom are located behind a heavy fire door which can be difficult to open. Staff are happy to assist as needed.
All bathrooms at Craft + Design Canberra are all-gender bathrooms.
Assistance Animals
Assistance Animals are welcome throughout the venue.
Admission and Companion Cards
Exhibitions are always free to visit.
For paid workshops and events, free tickets are available for Companion Card holders. You will be given the option to add a companion ticket at checkout.
Seating
Seating is available in the gallery.
Additional seating or seating with back support can be arranged on request. Please speak to staff at the front desk.
Seating is provided at all events and public programs.
Shop
Most displays are low and easy to access but some are taller. If you need assistance reaching items, please ask a staff member and we will be happy to assist.
Online
We livestream our artist talks and exhibition openings and share recordings online, ensuring access for people who cannot attend in person.
All of our videos include captions.
Our Annual General Meeting is delivered in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and remote participation.
Families and Children
Families are welcome at Craft + Design Canberra. Prams are welcome in the Gallery.
Young children are welcome when supervised by an adult.
Some exhibitions may include themes more suitable for adults. If you have questions about exhibition content, please contact us before your visit.
There are no baby change facilities on site. The nearest baby change facility is located at Civic Library.

We have a quiet space available upon request. Please email hello@craftanddesigncanberra.org prior to your visit or speak to a staff member during your visit.
