Lisa Molvig

Lisa recently retired from CSIRO after a 35-year career in plant biotechnology and is excited to have more time for her diverse art practice. She translates Canberra's diverse flora, fauna and landmarks into a beautiful array of linocut prints.
Self-described as being 'unable to keep her hands still', she channels that energy into creating a beautiful selection of handspun and handknitted winter warmers every year (get in quick in preparation for the autumn chill).
Lisa also weaves mini tapestries from yarns donated to her by founding Craft ACT member Fay Skyring. These yarns were thrums of warp yarns from upholstery fabric Fay wove for Parliament House in Canberra. In these framed works, Lisa uses them as weft threads to explore the interaction of the different colours Fay used in three different upholstery fabrics.
