Meet the Maker: Acclaimed internationally for innovative and complex woven textiles, Jennifer Robertson uses a unique purpose built digital handloom and her works span a broad range of textile practice-led research outcomes including sculptural relief and miniature 3D artworks, interior and fashion. 

Thematic research focuses on exploring relationship between environment, human form, interior space and materiality through the use of weaving metaphors and analogies. Investigating the poetic and evocative nature of materials interplay using soft engineering, threads are constructed into often multiple layered structures imbued with sensorial, haptic properties.

About the maker: Sean Meany's creative endeavours traverse a landscape of whimsy, illusion and enigma. His portfolio melds a range of components, from sculptural works of imaginative creatures using recycled materials to contemplative pieces that push the boundaries of perception and photographic works that explore the world of liminal space. Within his arts practice, he seeks to shed light on the potential for rejuvenation and innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of materials and techniques to foster fresh avenues for artistic expression.

About the Maker: Katie-Ann Houghton (KAH) aims to challenge the culture of mass consumption by creating work with innovative design and handmade quality. Katie’s design philosophy is based around the idea that the objects that we engage with every day should engage our senses and bring us joy through use.  

Designed to be both functional and practical, KAH aims to change the conventional expectations of tableware, and have us view each piece as both a piece of contemporary design and an object of use.

Katie-Ann Houghton is an Artist, Designer and Maker based in Sydney Australia. Her contemporary works are inspired by early 20th Century Design and embody a decade long passion for traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques.

Bold satin ring in palladium silver with a 18ct gold rectangle inset with two Australian cognac diamonds and a small white diamond.

About the Maker: Trained in the Goldsmith School in Bardon after having attended a 5 day retreat which was the journey that instigated a rediscovery of a love of jewellery making under the tutelage of Meghan O'Rourke.

Metal is re-useable, sustainable, and skill is required to handcraft pieces whether it be thorough recycling metal- and making sheet and wire, or carving wax to cast pieces which are then worked on by hand. 

These pieces are bold and born of experience- the latest pieces being reminiscent of the ocean with its infinite texture and movement.

Mixing alloys- are a favorite. Using sterling silver, gold, and Palladium Silver which has the hardness of 14ct gold and tarnish resistant. Pieces are flush set with gems such as natural and CVD diamonds, sparkling moissanite, garnet, topaz, peridot, with items being unique and reflecting a style which is outgoing but elegant and one of a kind.
