Jennifer (Jenny) Adams has been painting for over 20 years, exhibiting for more than ten years as part of the Canberra-based Tin Shed Art Group, in galleries such as M16, the Belconnen Arts Centre and ANCA. From 27 March to 17 May 2026 Jenny will be having a solo exhibition – Mental Health and Nature - at the Belconnen Arts Centre. This exhibition is supported by a Grant from ArtsACT.
Jenny is an artist with Psychosocial Disability. As an adult artist she began with the Belconnen Arts Centre Ignite program in around 2013 and soon joined the long-running local Tin Shed Art Group. In 2025 Jenny began her business Popcorn Art, selling Giclee prints of her artwork at local markets.
Much of her current work is focused on producing a whole new body of work for her Mental Health and Nature exhibition scheduled for 2026.

As a painter with Psychosocial Disability, I am very influenced by the themes of mental health and recovery. Recently I have been totally inspired by the benefits of being in the natural environment. My art has flourished and hence I am keen to hold an exhibition that reflects my positive mental health journey. I typically use bright colours and a flat, stylised approach, using decorative motifs as appropriate. I love to take photos in nature and bring them home to paint. Generally I use my photographs as a starting point for my creativity, although on occasion I do realistic paintings as well. I use acrylic paints on canvas to design my art, and sometimes I use multimedia such as pencils and texts on paper.
