Textiles

Joanne Pascall is a contemporary textile creator and is based on her small rural property, on the outskirts of the little village of Candelo, on the Far South Coast, NSW, Australia.
Joanneās passion for textiles was inherited. Her Aunt was a trained Milliner and Textiles Head Teacher, she has always been surrounded by a creative family and spent many childhood hours learning traditional sewing techniques and methods.
Joanne is fascinated with creating texture and movement through fabric manipulation, intricate hand stitching and fine detail, using traditional and digital embroidery techniques.
She believes her creations should be made to share and treasure - such as bespoke napery, one-off embroidered and printed lampshades, as well as framed embroidered small art pieces.
Inspired by the textures, patterns and delicate intricacies of the landscape, Joanneās pieces reflect a slow, observant way of seeing.
Organic structures - such as foliage and the delicate architecture of a beeās wing - influence her mark - making, resulting in works that balance precision with softness. Through processes that move between handcraft and digital translation, Joanne expands embroidery beyond its traditional boundaries, inviting it into everyday spaces.
