Karina Hincksman is an Australian multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculptural and contemporary jewellery, mixed media and wearable art. Working across wax, cast metal, textiles, found objects and polymer clay, she creates works that investigate memory, transformation and restoration. Her practice explores the relationship between material and meaning, combining traditional jewellery processes with unconventional materials to produce tactile objects that invite curiosity. Inspired by themes of reflection, renewal and the traces left by personal and collective experience, Hincksman’s work considers how both fragile and robust materials carry stories of resilience and hope. Through intricate making and experimentation, she seeks to create pieces that contemplate the beauty found in imperfection. Her work reflects an ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, material exploration and the embodiment of both personal narrative and broader spiritual and cultural significance.

"My practice explores transformation, restoration and the quiet narratives held within materials. Working across sculptural jewellery, mixed media and wearable art, I combine wax, textiles, found objects and cast metal to create tactile works that invite contemplation and curiosity. I am drawn to materials that embody a sense of history, balancing fragility with resilience, and transforming them into metaphors for memory, endurance and renewal. Through processes of layering, casting, moulding, stitching, and assemblage, I seek to reveal beauty in imperfection and the potential for new life to emerge from what has been discarded or broken. Repeated forms, reflect ideas of connection, continuity and hope. Each work becomes an exploration of material intelligence and personal reflection, encouraging viewers to pause, engage with the object and consider the quiet intersections between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our shared human experience."
