Maker Member

Kirstie Page is an Australian artist working in enamel and mixed media, creating vibrant, symbolic works inspired by nature and storytelling. Based in Queensland, she spent most of her life in Canberra, where her children were born and where she completed her education and postgraduate training.

Kirstie holds an Honours degree in Music, a Graduate Diploma in Education, and a Master of Arts in Organisational Communication. Her foundation in the creative disciplines—particularly in music—continues to inform her visual art practice through an intuitive sense of rhythm, pattern, and emotional expression. Over time, her creative journey has evolved to include painting and enamelling, shaped by years of hands-on exploration and study with experienced teachers.

She now specialises in cloisonné and painted enamel, creating richly layered works that invite quiet reflection. Kirstie’s pieces are held in private collections across Australia and internationally.

"I create vibrant artworks and intricate enamel pieces that bring to life detailed worlds inspired by Australian nature, mythology, and storytelling. My practice explores the interplay of flowing lines, decorative patterning, and rich colour to capture the beauty and mystery of the natural world.

Working primarily in enamel and mixed media, I use techniques such as cloisonné and painted enamel to build layers of luminous colour and texture on metal and glass surfaces. This process requires patience and precision, with each layer carefully fired to create depth and glow unique to the medium. Painting is also part of my approach, adding narrative detail and symbolism.

Nature remains a constant source of inspiration—native birds, blooming flowers, and ethereal figures recur as motifs that invite viewers to slow down and explore the intricate stories woven into each piece. I blend the flowing lines of modernism with the ornate elegance of Art Nouveau, drawing on these styles to shape the patterns and forms that bring my work to life.

My creative journey is shaped by a lifelong love of music and structured creativity, having studied music and communication at university. This background influences the rhythm, layering, and flow within my compositions.

Ultimately, my work invites quiet reflection and closer attention to the natural world, creating spaces where imagination and reality merge."
