Based on her family’s farm near Jugiong in southern NSW, Liz Kelleher works across paper, cameraless photography, stitching and found materials to create tactile, one-of-a-kind works inspired by the quiet beauty of overlooked plants, everyday objects and natural textures.
In contrast to her work as a website designer, Liz is drawn to the slower pace of making by hand. She enjoys working with processes that unfold gradually, where sunlight, water and time all influence the outcome. Her practice continues to evolve through curiosity, often combining cyanotypes, vintage book papers, stitching and collected materials in unexpected ways.
Since beginning to exhibit her work, Liz received the Jenny Crain Printmaking Award at the 2023 Tumut Art Exhibition and was commended by guest judge Lucy Culliton at the 2026 Tumut Art Exhibition. Her work has also been exhibited with Tyger Gallery (Yass) and at Melbourne’s Big Design Market.
"My work begins with paying attention. I'm interested in botanicals, paper and everyday materials that are easily overlooked. The more closely I look, the more there is to discover.
Much of my work uses the cameraless photographic process of cyanotype. From there, I often tear, layer and stitch the prints, combining them with vintage book papers, textiles and other collected materials. Sunlight, water and natural toners such as green tea and coffee all leave their mark, meaning no two pieces are ever the same.
I enjoy following an idea to see where it leads, often discovering unexpected textures, colours and forms along the way. I love making with my hands … there are no keyboard shortcuts to ”undo”!
If my work encourages someone to slow down, notice something they might otherwise have walked past or see familiar things a little differently, then I feel it has found its place."
