Metals + Jewellery

Nataša Milenović is a German-trained goldsmith with thirty years of experience in jewellery and objects. She moved to lutruwita/Tasmania in 2001 and works and teaches from her studio in Cygnet, south of nipaluna/Hobart.
Her work grows out of close attention to the natural world, forms emerge intuitively from what captivates her on the beach, in the bush, or in her garden. Hand fabrication is at the heart of her practice, alongside a long-standing fascination with patinas and the transformative qualities of metal. She works primarily with copper, brass, silver, and industrial surplus materials, valuing no one metal above another. Themes of convergence, symbiosis, and the patterns nature repeats across scale run through her work.
Nataša has exhibited in solo and group shows across Australia and internationally, including a 2024 duo exhibition with Regine Schwarzer at Radiant Pavilion and a 2023 presentation at Contemporania Art Fair in Barcelona. She has been a finalist in PROFILE 25, the Women's Art Prize Tasmania 2024, and TIDAL 22, and has received funding from the Carl Duisburg Gesellschaft, the Australia Council for the Arts, and Regional Arts Tasmania.
"Smitten by the shapes and colours of an island at the end of the world - Lutruwita/ Tasmania, I am on a quest to translate them into metal, experimenting with traditional goldsmithing techniques."
