Paul Summerfield is a Canberra-based artist working primarily with digital tools. He produces intricate, vibrant, and detailed prints on paper and other materials. Paul creates works which are full of fantastical, moody and optimistic visions of the future, from botanical vistas to futuristic landscapes filled with intricate details and textures. The themes in his work can often be described as Solar Punk, which is less dystopian and more botanical eco-systems, animals & human cultures working and living together in harmony.
"I let technology inspire new possibilities. I embrace digital painting on portable tablets, phones and laptops and explore open-source and indie apps and software. I've found that by embracing mobile and portable technologies, it has enabled a greater sense of freedom and inspiration in my work. I find I can capture the world around me with found objects, nature, and moments in time. I enjoy walking and public transport, and many an idea has been seeded by exploring the world in this way."
