Reece Patterson is a Canberra-based furniture maker developing his independent practice, Rhodri, which produces a growing catalogue of contemporary handmade furniture. He began working in furniture making in 2020 and in 2025 studied at the Sturt School for Wood in Mittagong, completing a Certificate IV in Furniture Design and Manufacturing.

In 2025 Reece exhibited in Threshold, the Sturt School for Wood student exhibition, and presented work at the Bungendore Woodworks Arts Trail and Handmade Canberra at EPIC.

While at Sturt, he was awarded Student of the Year by the Studio Woodworkers Association. Returning to Canberra in 2026, Reece continues to develop Rhodri from a shared workshop, expanding his furniture catalogue and establishing his independent studio practice.

"I make furniture through my studio, Rhodri, aiming to create pieces that have character and invite people to explore and enjoy them. I like my work to feel playful and engaging, encouraging interaction and offering small surprises in everyday life.

Since studying at the Sturt School for Wood in 2025, I’ve been building a growing collection of handmade timber furniture. Sturt helped me find my own style and begin developing a design language that reflects both practical function and a sense of personality. I enjoy exploring form and function, finding solutions that make each piece unique while still practical.

Through Rhodri, I’m continuing to develop my practice, experimenting with new ideas, refining designs, and finding ways to share my work with others."
