Braidwood based, Saloon Design House is fashion with a difference. Owner, designer and dressmaker Dena Pharaoh-Pezzano has worked in the fashion and theatre costume industry for over 30 years. Dena grew up in a creative British-Italian-Egyptian family north of Sydney, and spent most of her working life in this field. A valued mentor and champion of ethical fashion production; her brand Saloon Design House embodies these design disciplinaries. Thoughtful production is at the forefront and Dena lends her hand and heart into every piece. Saloon encompasses community with local models and collaborations; photo shoots celebrate life in the rural town of Braidwood. Saloon’s trademark is femininity and strength. Liberty prints, bold colours, and universal fabrics, are imbued with authenticity- bringing together the Saloon cultural melting pot.

"Making, creating, collaborating and working with other craftspeople has made the fluid transition between fashion and theatre costume an interesting career over the years. I am excited by textiles and colour. It is within me to be a maker, almost an obsession. I am always influenced first by fabrics and my hands-on approach with patternmaking and fitting garments will continue to be what defines my process. My studio where I create Saloon Design House is off-grid, almost another world from the madness of fashion. I make limited edition collections and focus on achieving lasting pieces, this is true slow fashion that can be worn and adored for years to come. I look forward to hosting dressmaking workshops and expanding my gardening skills with a small-scale Indigo farm for future natural dying."
