CEO + Artistic Director
Since 1971, Craft ACT has played a vital role in sustaining Australia’s high quality studio practice and supporting craftspeople, designers and audiences.
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a new CEO + Artistic Director to lead Craft ACT towards its next 50 years. This is a deeply rewarding role which creates greater opportunities for our community of craftspeople and designers, and for the growing audience who admire and appreciate the beauty, skill and excellence of their work.
We seek an effective, inclusive, values driven and entrepreneurial leader who can set and fulfill a dynamic and expansive agenda for Craft ACT while also comfortably dealing with strategic, creative and financial opportunities.
Craft ACT is recognised as a leading centre in contemporary Australian craft and design, with a vision to strengthen the dynamic link between the arts – as encompassed in the craft sector – and the broad creative industries and design sector.
A strong program of challenging but innovative work in recent years has ensured that one of Australia’s longest continuous running visual arts membership organisations is in its strongest position ever – artistically, financially, professionally and collaboratively. Our vision is to embed contemporary craft, making and design at the centre of everyday life in Australia’s capital, a global city of design.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in areas of financial, program and project management, funding, sponsorship and philanthropy, and community partnerships, along with knowledge of visual art, craft and design. Craft ACT’s artistic and outreach programs engage closely with partner arts organisations, government, businesses and educational institutions to promote contemporary craft and design. These programs seek to position Craft ACT and its members as vital to Canberra and well-connected to Australia and the world.
