Join Wiradjuri fibre artist Jessika Spencer (Wiradjuri) for a hands-on weaving workshop exploring the cultural practice of creating dilly bags through Aboriginal weaving techniques using contemporary fibres. Participants will be guided through the foundations of weaving with natural materials while learning about the rich history and ongoing practice of Indigenous fibre art.
Grounded in slow making and shared conversation, this workshop invites participants to create their own woven dilly bag in a welcoming and culturally safe environment. Suitable for beginners, the session forms part of Reclamation, an exhibition exploring reconnection through weaving, adornment and fibre installation.

About the Artist
Jessika Spencer is a Wiradjuri woman from the Sandhills of Narrungdera (Narrandera) in New South Wales. A First Nations weaver, writer and activist, she has lived on Ngunnawal/Ngambri Country for more than a decade.
Jessika’s practice is grounded in natural materials gathered from Country, holding to a strong emphasis on land management and cultural heritage. Working across photography, writing and both contemporary and traditional weaving, Jessika explores and expresses her cultural identity.

- Craft + Design Canberra is accessible via lift access at the building entrance with step free access throughout our Gallery and Workshop spaces.
- An accessible, all-gender bathroom is available via a heavy fire door.
- Assistance animals are welcome throughout the venue.
- Seating is provided at all events and workshops, and free tickets are available for Companion Card holders.
- Please note our Shop space is currently restricted and does not permit a full 1500mm x 1500mm turning circle, though pathways can accommodate

Cancellation Policy
- 15 days prior: Customers are entitled to a full refund on request.
- Less than 14 days: Customers are not entitled to a refund. Customers are entitled to a ticket transfer to a friend or family member.
