About the Exhibitions
Exhibition | Rewild | Artists in Residence Exhibition
Artists | Michele Grimston + Hannah McKellar
The 2025 Artist-in-Residence exhibition showcases the work of Michele Grimston and Hannah McKellar completed as part of the annual Craft + Design Canberra Artist-in-Residence program at Cinerea Cottage in the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, following a research component with National Zoo and Aquarium.
As part of the exhibition launch, Hannah McKellar and Michele Grimston will join Exhibitions Coordinator Stacy Jewell in conversation, reflecting on their residency experiences. This talk offers a rare insight into the processes, challenges, and reflections that inform each artist’s practice, highlighting how attentiveness and responsiveness have shaped the creation of their work.
The Craft + Design Canberra Artist-in-Residence program is supported by ACT Parks and Conservation Service. The 2025 research partner was the National Zoo and Aquarium. More information about the program is available here.
Exhibition | STAUNCH.
Artists | Rodriguez Nalorlman Pindiying (Thyemirri Bininj, Djalama Clan Group, Mamadawerre homeland, West Arnhem Land (NT)), Georgia Hoskinson (Badtjala (Butchulla)), Sandy Harvey (Kalkadoon), Shanysa Jayde McConville (Eastern Arrernte), Marcus Maye Wright (Wiradjuri-Gamilaraay), Nic Ingram (Palawa and Wiradjuri ), Maggie Douglas (Kabi Kabi and South Sea Islander)
This exhibition is an introduction to the STAUNCH. Collective, a collaboration presenting works created by seven Blak artists who connected through conversations about Culture as a resistance practice for/as First Peoples.
Each of the artists have created work that speaks to their experiences of growth, connection and healing, opening space for discussion, discourse and joy. STAUNCH. invites you to consider what resistance truly looks like, how do you resist the colony and how do you uphold it?
STAUNCH. is a cultural collective making works of art that generate Blak excellence, each artist with their own creative practice drawing from Country, Community and collaboration.
