Create your own quirky finger puppet using wet felt-making techniques in this hands-on workshop led by artist and educator Lynn Petersen. Guided by a poetic prompt, you will explore colour, texture and form to shape a character that tells its own unique story.
Use flat resist felting to craft wonderfully unexpected shapes. A variety of fibres, fabrics and found objects will be available to help bring your puppet to life.
Perfect as a parent-child activity or for anyone curious about felt making, this workshop invites you to stretch your creativity and discover the stories your puppet has to tell.

This workshop is suitable for both adults and children and is recommended for participants aged 8 and over. Due to limited space and the nature of the activities, we do not recommend booking a ticket for children under this age. Participants may bring younger children as accompanying observers. If you intend to bring younger children, please notify us by email after booking your ticket and advise the number of additional attendees.
About the artist
Lynn is an experienced educator and artist. She has expertise in arts education and educational leadership. Her post-graduate work focussed on the role of arts in education and quality teaching. She currently works at the University of Canberra as a sessional academic (Education) and as a freelance arts educator and community arts practitioner. Lynn has a particular interest in textiles and theatre arts. She is an accomplished director and performer for both stage and radio. Some of her more recent works explore the intersections between textile and theatre arts. Lynn has taught feltmaking workshops for a range of regional community organisations. Her textile works have been exhibited by Canberra Region Feltmakers and Belconnen Arts Centre.
