A set of three handcrafted stainless steel Cheese knives.

Carefully crafted, they play on the manipulation of a single flat sheet of metal through a combination of folds, to create a functional and intriguing piece of cutlery - a deceptively simple structure for the simple pleasure of savouring cheese.

These Cheese Tools are perfect for cutting into a gooey camembert or smoky cheddar, even spreading dips onto crisp crackers. Contemporary and architectural in design, they are a stunning accompaniment to you cheese platters and perfect for food lovers.

The set includes three knives, a hard cheese knife, a soft cheese knife and a spreading knife.

About the Makers: Ferro Forma is the culmination of a long standing partnership between Alison Jackson and Dan Lorrimer. They are a metalsmithing workshop specialising in handcrafted small batch edition objects that capture the hand of the maker and the heritage of our craft.

Alison Jackson is a designer, maker and contemporary Silversmith based in Braidwood, Australia. Completing a Gold and Silversmithing degree at the Australian National University, Alison holds over two decades of artistic and technical metal forming expertise.

With an aesthetic best described as elegant, timeless, and minimal, Alison showcases her work through her fine jewellery, tableware, large scale installation, limited editions and exhibition work.

Alison’s work is held in both public and private collections, including a large acquisition by the Canberra Museum and Gallery. A recipient of numerous notable awards and grants,  Alison’s work has been exhibited widely within Australia and also internationally, including at Inhorgenta (Germany) and Milan Design Week (Italy). 

Dan Lorrimer is a contemporary sculptor, machinist, fabricator and toolmaker. With a degree in Sculpture from the Australian National University, Dan has since diversified his work, significantly developing his skills across a wide range of technical areas, specialising in metal forming.

Dan’s sculpture practice explores notions of movement, energy, solidity and illusion through minimalist sculptural forms, often located between the artificial and natural world. He has exhibited widely across Australia and has work held in private collections across the country.

About the Maker: Caslake and Pedler Glass is a partnership between Meg Caslake, a glass blower and David Pedler, a ceramicist. Together they make hand made glass objects. From their studio in Stepney, Adelaide, they are involved in every step of the making process. From first designs, to the melting and colouring of the sand, to the magic of creating art with molten glass. Their unique collections are inspired by the Australian beachside lifestyle.

About the Maker: Lisa Cahill's glass installations create a discourse about the Australian landscape and her affinity with it, often entwined with her Danish heritage. Inspired by both the natural world and the transitory nature of the urban experience, Cahill’s dreamlike images invite viewers to draw associations with their own remembered landscapes, resulting in a meditative and emotional response. Rather than a direct reproduction they are more her own interpretation of light and landscape and become a place for quiet contemplation.

About: Dan makes knives for culinary purposes as well as for other crafts. His focus is on making high quality goods that will last a lifetime.

Care Instructions: After use, wash the blade with warm soapy water and dry it with a clean cloth. Do not put the knife in the dishwasher.

The knife will need to be periodically sharpened, if you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself, Daniel offers sharpening services through his website www.dvenables.com.

Meet the Maker: Pamela Irving works across media, including collage, painting and sculpture. Her works adorn many public and private spaces in Melbourne and Internationally for example Larry La Trobe, the dog sized bronze in front of the Melbourne Town Hall and her mosaic reverie at Luna Park Melbourne. Her works are unashamedly playful, joyous and often irreverent. Where possible she utilise discarded objects, ceramics and junk to create new forms. She has been creating works for exhibition and public spaces full time sine 1982. As well as her work in Australia, she teaches annually at the Chicago Mosaic School and exhibits at the Gallery of Contemporary Mosaic in Chicago. Her studio is based in the quirky Patterson Village, a bayside suburb of Melbourne.

An Australian design classic, Robert Foster’s water jug is F!NK’s signature piece and one the most recognisable objects to come out of Canberra. The coloured anodised aluminium F!NK jug fits perfectly into any household or boardroom and is a must for design collectors.

Meet the Maker: F!nk + Co. is a much loved and respected Australian design company with an international reputation for producing world-class tableware, hollowware, jewellery and lighting. It was established by Robert Foster in 1993 with the aim of creating a design and manufacturing business to support and generate opportunities for Australian designer-makers.  

F!NK challenges the notions that functional is boring, and that useful and visually exciting are mutually exclusive.  Simultaneously supremely functional and totally elegant, no two F!NK pieces are exactly the same. Each article is created in small batches of 20 to 100 units and individually hand-finished in the Queanbeyan studio/workshop.  

When commissioned to create a jug by a prominent Canberra restaurant in the 1990s, Robert took aluminium tubing, an everyday sustainable material, and fashioned it into a sleek economically viable product. The Water Jug was the first F!NK product and is still the mainstay of the company. It is a striking practical object and encapsulates the qualities of F!NK + Co.: distinctive design, function and technical innovation.

Meet the Maker: Sophi Suttor's conceptual work examines the loss of habitat and its replacement by the generic she is looking at specimens through the filter of the work of Rohan Ellis. Producing fragments of the generic as a demonstration of how easily we lose the detail and cultural stamp of our personal landscape

Works are childlike and toy like to highlight how easily we are seduced by pretty things. Using lots of generic flowers and toy like items to highlight how readily we accept the generic. This acceptance erodes national identity and leads to devaluation of all things native to Australia this process is aided and abetted by globalisation.

About the Maker: Christopher Plumridge studied ceramics in the 70's under Chinese, Japanese, English and Australian potters. His cleanly designed and ergonomically styled pieces are long lasting and sustainable. Christopher is famous for his finishes, with each piece uniquely glazed with original formula matte or gloss coloured glazes.

About the artist: MW Leather is Megan Watson, a leather atelier, photographer, and filmmaker, living and working in the heart of Canberra.

Using traditional techniques all MW Leather products are individually created and handsewn with care and attention to detail.  With a focus on good design and quality materials, each piece has it’s own unique characteristics and will develop over time to reflect the users own personality.  MW Leather creations, range from wallets and accessories to bags and custom commissions, they showcase not only Megan’s skill, but also her commitment to quality and locally produced goods that are designed to last many years.

Meet the Maker: Working from her quiet studio in the Bega Valley in New South Wales, local ceramicist Margaret Brown crafts and designs a prolific array of domestic delights.

Brown is drawn to the medium of porcelain for its purity and translucency. These unique qualities allow her works breathe a sense of easiness into daily living through each mug, beaker, and bowl. Through her domestic vessels, she combines function with aesthetic. No two pieces of Brown’s making are the same, each carries a unique character bestowed upon it through careful handcrafting by the artist.

A set of two stainless steel butter knives

A unique combination of playful folds creates an intriguing formed knife, it’s perfect for spreading lashings of butter on warm fresh bread.

Whilst we initially imagined our butter knives spreading butter across fresh warm bread, we’ve since discovered countless other uses for them in our kitchen. Icing cakes, spreading dips and getting the last little bit of vegemite out of the jar… their rounded tip design makes them such a handy piece. We love the fact you’ll be reaching for our tableware pieces time and time again, to help prepare, share and serve delicious meals with loved ones.

Meet the Maker: Born and raised in Canberra, Jeremy Brown is an emerging local designer/maker of furniture and objects.

Completing a Bachelor of  Visual Arts with first class Honours at the Australian National University in 2017, Jeremy has also received and been nominated for numerous local and national awards relating to his design practice. Jeremy's practice is interdisciplinary but consists predominantly of timber and fabric upholstery. His work ranges from speculative pieces of critical design, to small batch production items.
