About the maker: Phoebe Porter is a Canberra based jewellery maker who's work is strongly influenced by the Bauhaus and Constructivist movements. Her work strives for order and balance, often using a mechanism as a starting point, which then becomes integral to the design. 

Phoebe’s technical understanding and refined hand skills are the result of over twenty years of practice, research and development. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Gold and Silversmithing) at ANU, 2001 – under the tutelage of German-born Silversmith, Johannes Kuhnen. Porter then went on to undertake a mentorship with one of Australia’s leading contemporary jewellers, Blanche Tilden. Phoebe has exhibited across Australia as well as in Japan, Germany and the UK and is well known for her thoughtful design and high quality craftsmanship.

Eggpicnic believe in long lasting products and transparent and honest design processes. Their designs are printed on 320 gsm archival fibre-based cotton rag and each print is individually signed by hand by Camila, Co-founder of Eggpicnic. They are designed and made in-house in their studio in Canberra.

Meet the Maker: Working from her quiet studio in the Bega Valley in New South Wales, local ceramicist Margaret Brown crafts and designs a prolific array of domestic delights.

Brown is drawn to the medium of porcelain for its purity and translucency. These unique qualities allow her works breathe a sense of easiness into daily living through each mug, beaker, and bowl. Through her domestic vessels, she combines function with aesthetic. No two pieces of Brown’s making are the same, each carries a unique character bestowed upon it through careful handcrafting by the artist.

She worked at the Canberra Glassworks in 2017 as the Creative Fellow, also supported by an Australia Council New Work Grant, to produce a neon installation for the 2018 Canberra Enlighten Festival. Harriet was awarded the 2018 Asia Link Toyama residency in Japan. In 2019 she thrilled to be the Proctor Fellow through the Glass Workshop travelling to the USA to study neon and plasma.
