About the Artists
Lisa Jose
Lisa Jose was awarded a PhD in archaeology before becoming a full-time artist and silversmith. She developed her love of relief printmaking when she discovered it combined the skills required for precise archaeological illustration with her passion for making. Her jewellery and her prints straddle the boundary between art and craft. Lisa’s interests are diverse, from animals and the natural world to ancient history and modern civilisation. With all subjects, she aims to cultivate a perspective that highlights uniqueness and defies stereotypes.
Sarit Cohen
Sarit Cohen is a graduate of the ANU School of Art (Ceramics). She completed her Diploma of Education (University of Canberra) and in this period was awarded the Doug Alexander Memorial Award for Decorative Surface. She has completed residencies in Denmark, Switzerland and China. These opportunities have significantly contributed to her work in the areas of porcelain manipulation and casting. She has contributed to numerous group and survey shows over the last 20 years, both nationally and internationally, notably in the USA, Denmark, Hungary and Israel. Her works are held in private and public collections in these countries. Cohen’s work bears the influence of her childhood spent in Israel, and of her Turkish and Indian heritage. Her memories of the desert, its surfaces and dry atmosphere are constantly evidenced in her objects. Together with an increasing curiosity about her Indian background, these form the basis of her research.
Lynne Flemons
Flemons currently works form her studio at Canberra’s M16 Artspace. Her work is held in public and private collections in Australia and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia and the Kyoto Seika University, Japan. She has won awards for her work and has been a finalist in many national exhibitions including the Ravenswood Women’s Art Prize and the Calleen Art Award. Flemons is a Fellow of the Ballinglen Art Foundation, Ireland and has attended numerous art residencies throughout her career, both in Australia and throughout Europe. She exhibits her work in both solo and group exhibitions.
