About the Event
Architectus, in partnership with SONA, EmAGN and Craft + Design Canberra, presents On Route: a conversation with young and emerging thought leaders, and guest speakers from the fields of architecture, urban design and their adjacent field, to question the impact and role transit plays in the life of the city.
Join guest speakers Lucy Irvine, Nathan Pauletto, Nicholas Eccles, Negar Yazdi and Woody Brenden as they explore modalities of moving in and through cities that are essential and sometimes marginalised, forming a backdrop to a layered world of experiences, places and peoples. A space that is ‘On Route’ is subject to flows that often make it the result of other choices, yet the discussion will consider how they may be made ethically, what role energy plays or what ecology could be found (and may have been forgotten) as the design task in itself.
The event will take place at Haig Park, near the iconic bus stop on Torrens Street in Canberra’s inner north and a case study in its own right. Speakers will occupy this space as they question the public they’re designing for, and what they need.
