Ceramics/ Public Art + Installation

Associate Member

Fiona trained in ceramics and moved into sculpture, public art and ephemeral installations. Her practice as an artist and arts worker are interrelated.

"As an artist and arts worker based in Canberra, I am interested in how we are shaped subconsciously by the spaces around us, subsumed memories and what is and isn't memorialised.

My art practice has included several large-scale permanent and ephemeral public art commissions. These works have all reflected unique, site-specific aspects of rural and urban environments. More recent works experiment with finding new spatial arts practices to engage people in place-making activities.

My interest in public art has also influenced my approach to event management. For the last two years I have produced large-scale event installations for the Enlighten Festival. These events have experimented with participatory experiences that involve the audience as part of the act of composition or design."
