About the Maker: I'm a German/Australian who migrated to this beautiful continent more than 20 years ago. I trained as a marine biologist and worked as a science communicator for many years in Sydney and later Canberra. I dedicated my professional life to actively engaging and connecting people with the natural world and the science that aims to understand our impact on the planet.
When my partner and I moved to a bush block near Braidwood I caught the gardening bug and decided to work with my hands. I now assist people living in nearby Braidwood with the maintenance of their gardens and I have set up a small artisan business i.f.made selling my timber creations to selected local businesses.
I am very fortunte to share a beautiful off-grid workshop with my partner, a furniture maker and great teacher. It is important to me that the pieces I create don’t have a large ecological footprint and don‘t add to the huge amount of waste we produce in our throw-away consumer world. I therefore like to use off-cuts and waste materials and timber I collect from the forest on our land. I firmly believe that with creativity any piece of waste can be transformed into something useful and beautiful!
