About the Maker: Robert is an American artist now based in Australia, primarily working from the Canberra Glassworks, and currently building a home studio. He received his Bachelors of Fine Art from Ball State University in Indiana USA, Majoring in Glass, Visual Communications, and minoring in Graphic Arts Management. Following graduation he worked at a glass studio and gallery in Kentucky USA, before relocating to Australia to get his Masters of Visual Arts (Advanced) from the Australian National University in Canberra Australia. Since arriving in Australia, Robert has assisted and been a gaffer to various artists at the Canberra Glassworks and the School of Art. He works full time as a glass artist assisting other esteemed glass artists including Tom Rowney, Mel Douglas, Nadege Desgenetez, Ben Edols and Annette Blair. Robert is a gaffer for the Canberra Glassworks production team. Robert is a passionate educator who has taught glassblowing skills extensively both in the USA and Australia. This includes regular developing glass blowing classes at Canberra Glassworks, as well as individualised training and group teaching. Robert’s own work has been exhibited nationally within Australia, and his production and design work sold by multiple retailers and galleries throughout the country. Most recently his work won the 3D art prize at the annual QPRC art awards show. He continues to develop his own design brand and technical skills in both glassblowing and other mediums, most recently Neon bending.
