About the Maker: Lindy McSwan was born, lives and works in Naarm / Melbourne. Her creative practice developed through the study of gold and silversmithing. A finalist in Craft Victoria Fresh! 2012 graduate show, Lindy won the Sofitel on Collins Award. An Australia Council for the Arts ArtStart Grant in 2015, assisted her in establishing her studio practice. Her work has been exhibited, collected and awarded nationally and internationally.
In 2018 Lindy began Master of Fine Art by research at RMIT, vessels from her project were exhibited in Spain at JOYA Barcelona 2018, receiving the Alchimia Student Award. She was selected as a finalist in the 2022 Robert Foster F!NK National Metal Prize, Craft and Design Canberra. The December 2022 issue of Garland magazine includes an article written by Lindy outlining her research into the material potential and life cycle of steel. In February 2023, the creative outcomes of Lindy’s MFA research project were exhibited at Site Eight Gallery, School of Art, RMIT University, Melbourne. Lindy will present new work in a solo exhibition titled Re.surfacing, at Shopfront 342 in September as part of the 2024 Radiant Pavilion, Naarm / Melbourne Contemporary Jewellery and Object Biennial.
