About the Maker: Kirandeep Grewal is a multi-disciplinary community artist and an art educator based in Canberra. Her art practice is based upon a meditative approach to everyday life. It is a learning and sharing journey of her work that encourages others to engage with art. Kirandeep's art is a beautiful combination of techniques learned from artisans across different cultures during her travels. She creates designs on silk scarves, wall hangings, and paintings, using various media such as silk, canvas, and paper.

Kirandeep's portfolio includes a live painting performance at the National Folk Festival 2024 and an invitation by Geoff Filmer to the prestigious 2022 Australian of the Year Lunch at the National Gallery of Australia. She has exhibited nationally (in Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, Esperance, and Perth) and internationally.

Alongside her art practice, she is committed to involving and engaging the community in arts through different projects. One of her current projects is Maker's Workshop, a personal and home well-being initiative in collaboration with Multicultural Hub Canberra. In October 2022, she conducted art workshops for recently arrived children and their parents in Australia, with support from organisations like Vinnies, the Red Cross, the Multicultural Hub, and the ACT Library.

Kirandeep is the founder and facilitator of the Migrant Women's Art Group, an initiative supported by Gungahlin Arts. She has also initiated several community art projects in Canberra during the lockdown, including the Creative at Slow Stitch Neighbourhood Art on Wheelie Bins and Art @Home.
