About the Maker: Emily Kerr is an emerging ceramic artist born, raised and currently based on Ngunnawal Country in Canberra. She works with porcelain and stoneware clays, wood-firing whenever possible at Old Saint Lukes Studio in Gundaroo. Emily’s wheel throwing practice is guided by Ian Jones (Laughing Frog Pottery), and her hand building practice is largely self-taught.

Emily’s work has featured in group exhibitions at Belco Arts, Strathnairn Arts Centre and the Canberra Potter’s Society, where she was awarded the TACA Emerging Artist prize in 2023. Her work is stocked in retail outlets around Canberra and she recently led a community based project to bring a small handmade ceramics market to Gundaroo.

In 2025 Emily will undertake an artist residency at Kouraku Kiln (Arita, Japan) to deepen her practice in porcelain.
