About the Maker: Lea Durie, is an artist based in Braidwood, in regional NSW. Lea holds a Masters of Contemporary Art Practice from the Australian National University (ANU) which she completed in mid 2024. Prior to that Lea studied for a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a ceramics major at the ANU and also holds a degree in Landscape Architecture.

Lea has been the recipient of a number of awards including the Belconnen Arts Centre Emerging Artist award and the The Craft + Design Canberra Emerging Contemporaries Award at the ANU School of Art and Design Graduating show in 2023. Leawas also the recipient of a Highly Commended Mention at the Klytie Pate National Ceramic Award in 2023 and has won the Canberra Potters Society Doug Alexander Award (2021) and the QPRC 3D Art Award in 2023.
Lea’s work has been in numerous group exhibitions and held a solo exhibition in the Craft + Design Canberra Crucible space in 2024. Later in 2024 Lea will hold a solo exhibition at the Belconnen Arts Centre and is also curating a show of ceramic artists working in the rural NSW area surrounding the ACT in late 2024 at the Watson Arts Centre.
Lea teaches creative ceramics through workshops in her studio and elsewhere.
