About the Maker: When weaving Old Growth Fire Pamela Joyce was intrigued by the free form threads that Ellen mentioned in the original design brief. To translate this into tapestry, Pamela used a technique called supplementary weft thread, wrapping the weft around pieces of cotton fabric. Pamela wanted to depict a significant portion of the design with supplementary weft to draw out the artist’s marks present in the original design, creating visual impact.
