Sally Black

Breakfast is a special time for me. I am relaxed and centred. On reading the daily prompt my mind was free to explore, play with ideas, possibilities and sketching locations. I use watercolour and pen in a small portable kit that allows me to quickly and dynamically capture the mood of my surroundings. My favourite prompts were “Brutalist” sketched on location at the National Gallery of Australia and “Sparkle” while sitting.

Sally Black is a Canberra based artist and passionate teacher creating and printmaking works on paper using water-based media. Sally documents the world around her in a sketchbook, both at home and when travelling, often using interesting angles and distortions in her work. When Sally is not sketching or teaching, she can be found in her studio at Strathnairn Arts creating painterly monotype landscapes using watercolour.
