Kaye Pemberton worked as a secondary art teacher in rural South Australia. Discovering her passion for clay, she went on to train as a production potter at the Jam Factory Craft and Design Centre in Adelaide, South Australia.

Since moving to Canberra in 1999, Pemberton completed a Graduate Diploma in Fine Arts at the Australian National University School of Art.

Pemberton has taught art and ceramics for forty years, conducting workshops in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Her work has won various awards and been acquired throughout Australia. In 2007, she was the NSW Ministry for the Arts funded resident, in the Hill End Artist in Residence Program. Her work was selected to represent contemporary Australian craft at 'Collect' The international art fair for contemporary objects at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in 2008.

Pemberton's back yard studio is located in suburban Canberra. Pemberton makes domestic ware which is wheel thrown and altered. Working with porcelain, “the hard stuff” is her main interest. Her work focuses on the ceremonies of daily living, observation and presence in the moment.
